What people come to me with

Work takes up a big part of our lives, so it’s no surprise it shows up in counselling. These are some of the things people bring in.

You can’t switch off

Even when the workday is over, your head is still at work. It’s hard to relax or enjoy your time at home, and your evenings and weekends don’t feel like a break anymore.

The workload is too much

The constant pressure is exhausting and you feel like you’re drowning. But instead of saying so, you keep waiting for your manager to notice.

A difficult boss or co-worker

You’re tired of dealing with the same person. You feel uptight, frustrated, or misunderstood, and it’s starting to affect how you feel about the whole job.

Second-guessing yourself

It feels like everyone else knows what they’re doing, while you’re always second-guessing yourself. Even when you’re doing your best, it never feels like quite enough.

Saying yes to everything

You have a hard time saying no because you don’t want to disappoint anyone. So you take on more, and later resent it. Then you replay the conversation long after it’s ended. Are they mad at me?

Feeling stuck

You don’t like your job, but you don’t know what else you would do. You feel stuck, and you’re not sure what the next step is.

How counselling can help

What we work on together

It’s uninterrupted time to focus on what’s happening at work and how it’s affecting you, which most people don’t get anywhere else.

Look at the pattern

Saying yes before you’ve thought about it. Assuming someone is upset with you. We look at where these habits came from and what they’ve been protecting you from.

Sort out what’s real

We work out which expectations are really on you, and which ones you’ve assumed. Sometimes the pressure comes from the job, and sometimes it’s the pressure we put on ourselves.

Practice the harder conversations

Asking for help before you’re drowning. Saying no to extra work. Talking to a difficult co-worker. We practice them together before you have to have them for real.

When something at work stays stuck. Sometimes a work experience stays with you long after it’s over, and talking it through isn’t enough. That’s when Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) can help. Many of my clients feel relief within one to five sessions. Learn more about ART

About me

Before counselling, I worked in HR

I spent over 10 years working in human resources before becoming a counsellor, so I have a good sense of how workplaces run, and how much of work people carry home with them. I enjoyed working with people, but I wanted the opportunity to support them on a more personal level.

My style is warm, down-to-earth and non-judgmental. I want you to feel genuinely understood as we get to the heart of what’s keeping you stuck.
